Redbridge Council has been awarded over £2m to help make residents' homes warmer and more energy-efficient, helping them save on their energy bills.
The funding is part of the Government’s Warm Homes Fund—Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund Wave 3, which will support the retrofitting of approximately 248 social housing properties across the borough,
The works, set to take place over nearly three years, will focus on a range of energy-efficiency measures, including wall, loft and underfloor insulation, and the introduction of low-carbon heating technologies.
This funding comes from a wider £1.29 billion Government package aimed at decarbonising social homes across 144 projects nationwide. The programme includes support for 17 strategic partnerships and 127 challenge fund projects.
Councillor Saima Ahmed, Cabinet Member for Housing and Homelessness, said: “We’re proud to be part of this vital initiative to make our housing stock greener, warmer and more affordable. This funding will help tackle fuel poverty, reduce energy bills for hundreds of our residents, and support our borough’s wider commitment to sustainability and reaching net zero. It’s an important investment in both people and the planet.”
