Have your say - Help shape how flood risks are managed in Redbridge
Published: 15 June 2023
Local people are being invited to share their views on Redbridge’s Local Flood Risk Management Strategy (LFRMS) to help shape how flood risks are managed in the borough.
The LFRMS, which is updated every 6 years or when there is a significant change in policy or legislation around flood risk, sets out which public bodies are responsible for which types of flooding, as well as objectives for managing local flood risks within the borough.
As part of the updated strategy being shared for local feedback, communities across the borough are also being asked to pinpoint locations on an online map of where they have seen or experienced flooding.
This information will add to the data already collated as part of the updated LFRMS, to help shape work taking place in the borough to tackle flooding.
To find out more and share your feedback on Redbridge’s Local Flood Risk Management Strategy, or to identify locations where you have experienced or seen flooding, go to: https://engage.redbridge.gov.uk/local-flood-risk-management-strategy
The feedback survey is open until Sunday 20 August.
A series of community-based Flood Awareness Roadshows are also being run by Redbridge Council, inviting local people to find out about the updated LFRMS, ask questions and:
- Discover how the council is helping protect local homes in areas prone to flooding
- Watch demos and view examples of anti-flooding devices for the home, and what you can do to help reduce flooding in your area
- Find out about local schemes aimed at reducing flood risks in the borough
- Meet and hear from partner organisations working with the council on local flood alleviation schemes
- Receive a free handy Council leaflet packed with information on staying flood aware, how to protect your home and what to do in a flooding emergency, along with lots of other useful advice
