Apply to demolish a building

If you want to demolish a building over 1750 cubic feet (50 cubic metres) you have to let us know a minimum of 6 weeks before you start work. You need to complete the demolition notice form and send it back to us: email buildingcontrol@redbridge.gov.uk for the form. 

You also need to let your neighbours know about the work you are doing.

Safe demolitions

Our Building Control officers are responsible for making sure that people carrying out demolition work meet Health and Safety Executive guidelines for demolition.  

We'll contact you within 6 weeks to let you know any conditions you need to meet before you can go ahead with the demolition. These conditions will relate to health and safety, environmental and site preparations. We'll also let the relevant utility companies know about what you are planning to do.
