Planning application fees and fast track service

Planning application fees

You must pay a fee for most planning applications.

Use the fee calculator to check the cost of your application. The fee calculator will ask you a few questions to help you find out the correct fee.

You can also check the Planning Portal's fee guidance for further information.

How to pay

You can only pay online or by telephone.

Paying online

You must pay the application fee online through the Planning Portal. This is secure and is the fastest way to pay for your application.

You cannot pay online for:

  • fast track
  • administration charges

You have to pay these charges by telephone.

Paying by telephone

You must use our automated telephone payments line:

  • 0208 708 4708 and press 9 for Planning Services

You'll need to enter your Redbridge reference number. Do not enter any letters or special characters. For example, if your planning application reference is 0100/21 enter 010021 into our automated payment line.

Planning application fast track service

We currently offer a fast-track service for:

  • householder applications (£300)
  • prior approval householder applications (£150)
  • certificates of lawfulness proposed (£150)

You must request fast track in the proposal description on the application form when you submit it. You cannot request fast track after this.

Fast track for householder applications and prior approval householder applications

This guarantees a decision notice in writing in a maximum of 5 working days of the conclusion of the statutory 21 day consultation period.

Fast track for certificates of lawfulness proposed

This guarantees a decision notice in writing in a maximum of 10 working days from receipt of a valid application.

How to pay

You must pay through our automated telephone line:

  • 0208 708 4708 and press 9 for Planning Services

You cannot pay until your application has been received and registered. Then you'll have up to 1 week to make the payment.

You must use your Redbridge reference number to make the payment. We'll send this to you by email.

You'll need to enter your Redbridge reference number. Do not enter any letters or special characters. For example, if your planning application reference is 0100/21 enter 010021 into our automated payment line.

Terms and conditions

Must be stated within the proposal description on the application form on submission that you wish for the application to be assessed under fast-track.

Must be a valid householder, prior approval householder, or lawful development certificate proposed application.

Must not be located in a conservation area.

Must only be relating to a single dwellinghouse.

The fast-track fee must be received no later than 1 week after application validation (the date of the acknowledgement email).

Payment of the fast-track fee can only be made through our automated phone line (no other payment method is acceptable).

In the case that an incorrect reference number is used to pay, and this is the sole reason an application is not assessed under the fast-track process, then the fast-track fee will not be refundable.

All applications, providing validation requirements have been met, will be assessed using the originally submitted plans.

Notwithstanding any pre-application advice, no amendments will be sought or accepted for any applications submitted under the fast-track process.

Decision targets are subject to the appropriate fast-track fee being received in the timescale stipulated above.

Where an application meets the relevant triggers in the Council’s scheme of delegation it requires it to be discussed with the Chair of Planning committee to determine whether a delegated decision or Planning Committee is appropriate (this is likely to impact on the determination target and officers will always advise the agent when this is the case).  Where this is the only cause of delay the fast-track fee will not be refundable.
